Secret Pal Strikes Again
I'm woefully behind in posting. My Secret Pal has really spoiled me again with a Valentine's package. No photos, but she delivered a wonderful package chock full of goodies.

Here's what was in my package: 2 luscious skein of Classic Elite Inca Alpaca in a burgundy color, a heart photo frame (destined to include a photo of my kids), heart stickers, the cutest fluffy pink light-up piglet pen (my daughter wants to steal it from me), a heart shaped valentine's card and of course candy (snickers, m&ms, and twix, all my favorites). And it was all wrapped up in pink tissue and paper grass.

I have the best secret pal and she has good taste and style too (kind of like me).

I've already decided I must make a pair of gloves or fingerless gloves with the alpaca yarn.

Knitting Olympics
I've been very absent and don't have much to show for it. I kicked off the knitting Olympics late and didn't cast-on until Sunday. The kids have kept me from watching most of the Olympics. I do have about 6 inches of the back of Elfin completed. I think I made a mistake on one of the decrease at the side seam. I think I K2tog when it should have been and SSK. It's hardly noticeable and I think I'll just leave it that way.

I don't know who I was fooling. I'm the Jamaican bobsled team of the knitting Olympics. I'm here but there's no way I'm going to complete Elfin by the end. Maybe if I didn't work full time and I didn't have 2 toddlers. Maybe in another dimension. At least, I've gotten a start to Elfin.

My poor FLAK has been set aside for now and Elfin is a welcome break. Except for the Ruffles which appear to be easy but very tedious, Elfin is an easy sweater to knit. There is some simple shaping but it's mostly just plain stockinette. The Rowan felted tweed is an interesting yarn. It varies in thickness a bit and has that felted fuzziness. It knits amazingly fast on my addi-turbos and I actually had to use #6 to get gauge. Amazing since I usually need to go down a size or two.

I couldn't resist a deal on ebay and purchased 12 skein of Louisa Harding Kashmir Aran yarn in purple. I've already selected a cabled sweater in Rebecca 31. I'd like to make's Mariah and Girl from Auntie's Rogue but both require more than the 1200yds of yarn that I have.

I wonder what my secret pal is knitting for the Olympics. I'm sure her progress is better than mine.

My DH delivered on Valentine's day with flowers, heart balloons, a card, and a box of chocolates. He didn't get the good chocolates but I give him credit for the rest. The kids got way too much candy as DH and I both bought them chocolates. Is it possible to have too much chocolate? Yes, when you're trying to get your kids too sleep. My son is a chocolate fanatic and keeps demanding more chocolate.

FLAK Part 4 and Rebecca

I have a tight schedule to keep up to date with FLAK, finish Heart Throb before the Knitting Olympics (7 days!) and complete Rowan's Elfin during the Olympics.

So far I'm about 4 inches into the upper back. I've had to ladder down and correct a braid and one of the wave cables. The technique using dps works great. It's still no fun to do but at least I don't have to rip an inch or more of knitting. I also spotted some mistakes in two of the honeycombs. I didn't notice them at 1st but I'll need to correct those as well. No use putting all this time and efforts and leaving in the mistakes.

The new FLAK instructions will be posted on Saturday so I don't have much time to catch up. Unfortunately I caught a cold and went to bed early last night.

My Rebecca 31 finally arrived. I had already peeked on-line at the issue.

I like the white cabled sweater and also the black cabled one. Some of the summer halters are cute but the days when I could wear it are long gone.

I still have a backlog of sweaters from my other issues of Rebecca that I plan to make.
